Rod Stewart’s “Blend” Collection

Another purge of my on-going difficult-to-listen-to Blend project.

I had no idea Rod Stewart had released so many covers, but that’s some artists! The three covers are Sailing, Downtown Train and This Old Heart Of Mine, most of which were played on the radio in my youth. shame Baby Jane wasn’t a cover; that’s a great song!

They’re quite a tough listen so none of them ended up in Level 1 unfortunately. But that’s the challenge! Artists can change quite a few aspects of a song to make it more suitable for them, including the key, tempo, and the way the phrases are sung. The more those qualities are altered in the cover, the less likely they are to go through this audio-dovetail process and come out politely.
