Nerd Alert: Random Values from Logic MIDI FX Modulator ON KEYPRESS

This. No other words are needed.

Except to say that this is really handy way to get ‘useful’ chaos in your synth/sampler/effect work.

With this ‘hack’, each MIDI ‘Note On’ message, Modulator (MIDI FX in Logic) will generate a new value you can attach/assign to any exposed parameter on a plugin in your chain.

Maybe you want each note have a random reverb decay amount, or different feedback amount for the delay; it doesn’t have to be attached to a parameter in the synth. Any automatable parameter in your synths/samplers/effects can be adjusted like this. So go mad! Randomly modulate (up to 8) everything(s)!

Download the patch here

And place it in /<your username>/Music/Audio Music Apps/Plug-In Settings/Modulator/ for it to show up in your preset menu.
