4 Hours Of Preset Deconstruction For You
Are you a synth nerd? I am, and I’m not ashamed of it.
I’m so unashamed of it that I proudly record 90 minute videos filled with non-stop waffling and synth noises in the guise of a Preset Deconstruction exercise. Of course, we can all learn something from looking at other sound designers patches, how they exploit the features of the synth, perhaps highlighting a particular quirk, or creating a modulation configuration so complex only an advanced being from a long-gone civilisation would understand it. Even then, they’d spend half a life-time examining quite how the oscillator is responding to the the velocity through the scaling matrix.
So here are few more lengthy lecture-style videos covering some of the presets in Tone2’s Gladiator, Applied Acoustics System’s Multiphonics CV2 and Tone2’s Icarus 2.5.
Settle down with a few cups of tea and enjoy the audio-centric exploration.
And if you want me to perform this madness for your synthesiser, make contact and let’s see what we can come up with.
